Why a flat fee
Retriby could bill a percentage of what it brings back. It reads fairly — you only pay when it works — but it prices the wrong thing. Failed payments cluster: an expired card batch, a bank tightening its fraud rules, a provider outage. In those months a percentage model charges you the most, precisely when the tool was doing what you bought it for. A flat fee costs the same in a quiet month and a loud one, and you can put the number in a budget.
It also keeps the incentives honest. A tool paid per recovery has a reason to send one more email; a tool paid per month does not. The sequence stops when the payment is fixed or the customer has clearly made a decision — four attempts over two weeks, and then it is quiet.
What every plan includes
The recovery machinery is the same on all three plans. Retriby connects to Stripe, Gumroad, LemonSqueezy or Paddle, listens for the failed-payment webhook, and starts a four-step email sequence at T+0, T+3, T+7 and T+14 days. Each email carries a single-use link that leads to your payment provider's own card-update page, so no card details ever pass through Retriby. When the payment succeeds, the sequence stops on its own.
The dashboard shows every failed payment, what was sent, what was clicked, and what came back — with the recovered amount attributed to the email that earned it, so the subscription can pay for itself on paper and not just in principle. Data export and account deletion are self-service; there is no ticket to open for either.
What the plans actually differ in is scale and whose name is on the email: how many payment platforms you may connect at once, how many recoveries per month are included (Starter 50, the others unlimited), and whether the recovery emails carry your branding or Retriby's.
Which plan fits
Starter suits a single product on a single platform. 50 recoveries a month is the cap on failed payments picked up, not on subscribers — how many subscribers that corresponds to depends entirely on your own failure rate, which the dashboard shows you from month one. Emails go out under Retriby's name.
Pro is the plan for a business that sells in more than one place — a Stripe subscription alongside a Gumroad or LemonSqueezy catalogue. Recoveries are unlimited and the emails carry your sender name, logo and colour, which matters more than it looks: a customer who does not recognise the sender does not click.
Agency is for running this on behalf of other people. Platform connections are unlimited, and the same sender name, logo and colour settings as Pro carry over — each email still credits Retriby with a small "via" link in the footer.
Billing, in plain terms
Payment runs through Stripe; Retriby never sees a card number. The trial lasts 14 days and starts without a card — if you do nothing at the end of it, the subscription pauses and nothing is charged. Cancelling is a button in the billing portal inside your dashboard, not an email to support, and it takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
Upgrades and downgrades work in both directions and are prorated by Stripe, so switching mid-month costs only the difference for the days that remain. Invoices appear in the same portal.
Questions
Does Retriby take a percentage of what it recovers?
No. Every plan is a flat monthly fee — $29, $59 or $149 — and recovered revenue is yours in full. A percentage model would charge you most in exactly the months a payment provider had the most outages, which is the opposite of what you want from a safety net.
What happens after the 14-day trial?
The trial starts when you pick a plan and needs no credit card. If no card is on file when it ends, the subscription simply pauses — nothing is charged and nothing converts on its own. Add a payment method to start the plan, and cancel any time from the billing portal in your dashboard; the subscription then runs to the end of the paid period and stops.
What counts as a recovery?
A recovery is one failed payment that Retriby picks up and runs a recovery sequence for — counted per calendar month, not per email. A single failed payment that gets four emails is one recovery, not four. Starter includes 50 per month; Pro and Agency are unlimited.
Which payment platforms are included?
Stripe, Gumroad, LemonSqueezy and Paddle — the same four on every plan. What differs is how many you may connect at once: Starter one, Pro up to three, Agency as many as you need.
Whose name are the recovery emails sent under?
On Pro and Agency they go out under your own branding — your sender name, logo and colour. On Starter they are sent by Retriby on your behalf. The link a customer clicks always leads to your payment provider's own card-update page, never to a form of ours.
Can I change plans later?
Yes, in both directions, from the billing portal. Stripe prorates the difference, so an upgrade mid-month costs only the remainder of that month.
Do I have to change any code?
No. Retriby connects through your platform's OAuth or API key and listens to its webhooks. There is nothing to install in your product and no snippet you must ship.
Is there a free plan?
No — there is a 14-day trial instead. A permanently free tier would mean sending email on behalf of accounts nobody vouches for, which is how a sending domain's reputation gets ruined for everyone on it.
Not sure it is worth it? Run your own numbers.
The calculator takes your subscriber count and price and shows what failed payments are costing you each month. No signup, no email.
